Mick Betancourt

Mick Betancourt is a veteran writer/producer and showrunner with multiple series, feature films and books in various stages of development and production. Mick is also a stand-up comedian and actor who has performed at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and made guest appearances on NBC, HBO, TBS, and Comedy Central. He has been writing and performing comedy for over twenty years. Mick also played "Detective Sgt. Will Hendricks" in the Warner Bros. feature Gangster Squad opposite James Brolin and most recently "Officer Murphy" in ROKU's Most Dangerous Game. A native of Chicago, Mick began his career on dramas such as Law & Order: SVU (nominated for a Genesis and Alma Award,) Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, The Black Donnellys, Necessary RoughnessS, Detroit 187 and Breakout Kings. In 2018, Mick was recognized in Forbes Magazine as "8 Writer/Producers Ready For Their First Showrunner Job" after working as the Co-Executive Producer on The Purge (USA Network) and Shots Fired (Fox). The Purge debuted as USA Network's highest premiering show of all time, and Shots Fired starring Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James alongside Academy Award Winners Helen Hunt and Richard Dreyfuss, earned Mick an NAACP Image Award nomination for his episode. Mick was also an adjunct professor at the USC Graduate School of Cinematic Arts as well as a Guest Speaker at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He has consulted and/or taught at various institutions and corporations across the United States and Europe.
